Google Ads is usually the first paid channel an Indian business tries, and almost always the first one they get a confusing quote for. One agency says ₹25,000 a month. Another says ₹3 lakh. Both are describing the same platform.
The confusion comes from a simple fact that most pricing guides skip: Google Ads cost is two separate numbers, and people quote whichever one makes their proposal look better.
This guide breaks down both. It uses published 2026 benchmarks, plus real cost-per-click data from live accounts we manage in India, so you can sanity-check any quote you receive.
For the wider picture across all channels, read our digital marketing cost in India guide. This page goes deep on Google Ads alone.
How Much Does Google Ads Cost in India?
For most Indian businesses, Google Ads costs ₹25,000 to ₹2,00,000 per month in ad spend, plus a management fee of ₹15,000 to ₹60,000 per month or 10% to 20% of that ad spend.
Cost per click typically falls between ₹10 and ₹60 for most consumer categories.
High-competition verticals such as finance, insurance, legal and B2B software run far higher, sometimes past ₹300 per click.
Those are two different line items and you pay them to two different places:
- Ad spend goes directly to Google. You set it, you control it, you can change it tomorrow.
- Management fee goes to the agency or freelancer running the account. It covers strategy, setup, optimisation and reporting.
There is no minimum spend on Google Ads. You can run a campaign on ₹200 a day. Whether that produces anything useful is a different question, and the answer depends almost entirely on your cost per click.
Real CPC Data From Live Indian Accounts
Most pricing guides quote benchmarks from other pricing guides. Here is what we actually paid across five live Google Ads accounts we manage for Indian businesses, covering roughly ₹6.8 lakh of spend and 44,000 clicks over 90 days (August to November 2026).
| Account type | Avg CPC | CTR | Clicks (90 days) |
| Home services (safety nets, installation) | ₹1.17 | 10.68% | 2,683 |
| D2C ecommerce (festive gifting) | ₹9.32 | 8.91% | 12,804 |
| Tourism and travel bookings (A) | ₹14.21 | 11.31% | 15,160 |
| Tourism and travel bookings (B) | ₹25.17 | 20.89% | 13,218 |
| Home services (premium, low volume) | ₹63.13 | 15.73% | 112 |
| Blended across all accounts | ₹15.41 | 11.99% | 43,977 |
Three things in that table are worth sitting with.
The spread is enormous within the same industry. Two home services accounts came in at ₹1.17 and ₹63.13 per click. Same country, same broad category, a 54x difference. The cheap one targets high-volume, low-competition long-tail terms. The expensive one competes on a handful of commercial keywords with a tiny click volume. Any benchmark that gives you one number for “home services in India” is hiding this.
Indian CTRs run much higher than global averages. Our blended click-through rate of nearly 12% sits well above the 4% to 7% typically reported for search campaigns. Tightly themed campaigns in less saturated auctions get more of the clicks they are shown for.
Low CPC does not mean cheap leads. The ₹9.32 ecommerce account converts at 1.13%. One of the travel accounts pays more per click but converts at 6.65%. Click price is the input. Cost per acquisition is the number that pays your bills.
These are our accounts in our verticals. Use them as a reality check on quotes, not as a prediction for your business.
Google Ads Cost by Industry in India
Published benchmarks for India disagree with each other more than almost any other marketing statistic. Depending on which report you read, the “average” Indian CPC is ₹5, ₹25, or ₹150.
They are all partly right, because they are measuring different advertisers in different auctions. Here is a consolidated view of the ranges most commonly reported for 2026:
| Industry | Typical CPC range | Typical CPL |
| Ecommerce and retail | ₹8 – ₹25 | ₹300 – ₹900 |
| Home services | ₹7 – ₹25 | ₹200 – ₹700 |
| Travel and hospitality | ₹10 – ₹35 | ₹200 – ₹600 |
| Education and EdTech | ₹15 – ₹60 | ₹400 – ₹1,500 |
| Healthcare | ₹25 – ₹60 | ₹1,000 – ₹3,000 |
| SaaS and technology | ₹12 – ₹45 | ₹1,500 – ₹4,000 |
| Legal services | ₹20 – ₹75 | ₹1,500 – ₹4,000 |
| Real estate | ₹40 – ₹120 | ₹800 – ₹2,000 |
| Finance and insurance | ₹40 – ₹300+ | ₹2,000 – ₹5,000 |
For context, the global all-industry average search CPC in 2026 is around $5.42 with an average cost per lead near $66.69. Converted, that is roughly ₹480 per click. Indian CPCs run dramatically below that, commonly 70% to 80% lower, which is the single biggest structural advantage Indian advertisers have.
Real estate and finance sit at the top for the same reason everywhere: one closed deal is worth lakhs, so advertisers can afford to bid aggressively and still profit.
Google Ads Cost by Campaign Type
Campaign type changes your cost structure more than most people expect.
| Campaign type | Typical India cost | Best suited to |
| Search | ₹10 – ₹60 per click | Capturing existing demand |
| Shopping | ₹5 – ₹20 per click | Ecommerce product sales |
| Display | ₹50 – ₹150 CPM | Retargeting and awareness |
| YouTube | ₹50 – ₹150 CPM | Brand building, demos |
| Performance Max | Blended, varies widely | Ecommerce with clean feeds |
| Demand Gen | ₹40 – ₹120 CPM | Upper-funnel discovery |
Shopping is usually the cheapest traffic an Indian ecommerce brand can buy, because you compete on product relevance and feed quality rather than keyword bids alone. Display and YouTube look cheap on a CPM basis, but the intent is far lower, so judge them on assisted conversions rather than last-click.
A note on Performance Max: it blends every inventory type into one number, which makes it convenient to run and difficult to diagnose. Run it when your conversion tracking is clean. Avoid it as your first campaign.
How Google Ads Pricing Actually Works
You are not buying clicks at a fixed rate. Every search triggers an auction, and your position is decided by Ad Rank, which combines your bid with your Quality Score.
Quality Score is built from three things:
- Expected click-through rate, or how likely people are to click your ad
- Ad relevance, or how closely your ad matches the search
- Landing page experience, or how useful and fast the page is once they arrive
This is why two businesses bidding on the same keyword can pay very different amounts. A high Quality Score can cut your effective CPC substantially, while a poor one means you overpay for every single click, permanently.
The practical consequence is that your landing page is a pricing lever, not just a conversion lever. Agencies that quote you a management fee without discussing your landing page are quoting for half the job.
Google Ads Management Fees in India
Indian agencies price Google Ads management in four common ways.
Percentage of ad spend
The most common model, usually 10% to 20% of monthly spend. It scales naturally with account size. The obvious criticism is that it rewards the agency for spending more of your money, so look for a floor and a cap.
Fixed monthly retainer
₹15,000 to ₹60,000 per month for most small and mid-sized accounts, going higher for complex ecommerce or multi-location setups. Predictable, and better aligned when your spend fluctuates seasonally.
Setup fee plus retainer
A one-time ₹15,000 to ₹50,000 for account structure, conversion tracking, landing page guidance and campaign build, then a smaller ongoing fee. Reasonable when the account is being built from scratch.
Performance-based
Payment tied to leads or revenue. Attractive on paper, but usually still carries a base fee, and it can push an agency toward cheap, low-quality leads that hit the number without growing your business.
If you want a sense of what a full managed setup looks like alongside other channels, our digital marketing packages guide lays out the bundles. For Google Ads alone, see our PPC campaign management services.
Google Ads Cost by City
Your cost per click is set by auction competition in the locations you target, not by where your office is. Targeting Mumbai from Ahmedabad costs the same as targeting Mumbai from Mumbai.
What does change by city is the agency fee.
| City | Typical monthly management fee |
| Mumbai | ₹30,000 – ₹1,00,000 |
| Delhi NCR | ₹30,000 – ₹90,000 |
| Bangalore | ₹25,000 – ₹90,000 |
| Pune | ₹20,000 – ₹70,000 |
| Ahmedabad | ₹15,000 – ₹60,000 |
Ahmedabad consistently delivers the best value on management fees without a drop in capability, which is why a number of Mumbai and Bangalore businesses run their accounts from here. We have broken the local market down in detail in our Google Ads cost in Ahmedabad guide.
How Much Budget Do You Actually Need?
Work backwards from the number of leads you want, rather than picking a budget that feels comfortable.
The formula is simple:
Monthly budget = leads needed × CPC ÷ conversion rate
If you want 50 leads, your CPC is ₹25 and your landing page converts at 5%, you need 1,000 clicks, which costs ₹25,000.
Change the conversion rate to 2% and the same 50 leads cost ₹62,500. Nothing about Google changed. Your landing page did.
| Business stage | Monthly ad spend | What it realistically buys |
| Testing the channel | ₹25,000 – ₹50,000 | One or two tight campaigns, early signal |
| Established local business | ₹50,000 – ₹1,50,000 | Consistent lead flow, room to optimise |
| Growth stage | ₹1,50,000 – ₹5,00,000 | Multi-campaign, retargeting, scale |
| Competitive or national | ₹5,00,000+ | Full-funnel across campaign types |
Below roughly ₹25,000 a month in a competitive category, you usually gather too little data to optimise against. You are paying for clicks without buying the learning that makes the next month cheaper.
What Makes Your CPC Go Up
- Broad match without negatives. The fastest way to burn budget in India. Your ad shows for searches with no commercial intent and you pay for every one.
- A weak landing page. It lowers Quality Score, which raises what you pay per click, on top of converting worse.
- Competing on head terms only. The two or three obvious keywords in your category are where every competitor bids.
- Seasonal surges. Festive season, admissions season and wedding season all push CPCs up sharply in the relevant verticals.
- Letting automated bidding run without conversion data. Smart bidding optimises toward whatever you tell it is a conversion. If that is a page view, it will buy you page views.
How to Lower Your Google Ads Cost
- Build a negative keyword list in week one, then review search terms weekly. This is the single highest-return hour in any Indian Google Ads account.
- Go long-tail. Our cheapest account pays ₹1.17 a click because it targets specific, lower-competition searches instead of fighting over the obvious ones.
- Fix the landing page before raising the bid. Doubling conversion rate halves your cost per lead at the same CPC.
- Tighten ad groups. Fewer keywords per ad group means more relevant ads, better Quality Score and lower cost.
- Use location and schedule data. Most Indian accounts have cities and hours that spend without converting. Cut them.
- Get conversion tracking right first. Everything above depends on measuring the right action. If your tracking counts form views instead of form submissions, every optimisation after that points the wrong way.
Is Google Ads Worth It in India?
For most businesses with a clear offer and a working landing page, yes. Indian CPCs are among the lowest in the world for comparable commercial intent, and the channel captures people who are already looking for what you sell.
Judge it on the right number though. Not clicks, not impressions, not CTR. The questions that matter are your cost per lead, your lead-to-customer rate, and your customer lifetime value. If a ₹400 lead becomes a ₹40,000 customer one time in five, you have a profitable channel regardless of what you pay per click.
Google Ads is also no longer the only auction worth watching. OpenAI opened self-service advertising to Indian businesses in 2026, and we covered what that costs in our guide to ChatGPT Ads in India. It is not a replacement for search, but it is worth a line in the 2027 budget.
Where Google Ads genuinely does not work is when the economics do not survive contact with the maths. If your product sells for ₹500, your CPC is ₹40 and you convert at 2%, every sale costs ₹2,000 in ads. No amount of optimisation fixes a gap that size. That is an SEO and organic problem instead, and our SEO cost guide covers what that path costs.
Final Thoughts
Google Ads cost in India comes down to three numbers you control and one you do not. You control your landing page, your keyword targeting and your conversion tracking. You do not control what competitors bid.
Businesses that get this channel working profitably are almost never the ones who found a secret cheap keyword. They are the ones who fixed the landing page, cut the wasted spend and measured the right conversion.
When you next receive a Google Ads quote, ask which number it refers to. If the answer is not immediately clear, that tells you something useful about the agency.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the average Google Ads CPC in India?
Most consumer-facing industries in India see a cost per click between ₹10 and ₹60. Across five live accounts we manage, covering around 44,000 clicks over 90 days, our blended average CPC was ₹15.41. Competitive verticals such as finance, insurance and real estate run considerably higher.
2. What is the minimum budget for Google Ads in India?
Google sets no minimum. Practically, most businesses need at least ₹25,000 per month in ad spend to gather enough data to optimise against. Below that, in a competitive category, you are usually paying for clicks without buying useful learning.
3. How much do Indian agencies charge to manage Google Ads?
Commonly 10% to 20% of ad spend, or a fixed retainer of ₹15,000 to ₹60,000 per month for small and mid-sized accounts. Some agencies also charge a one-time setup fee of ₹15,000 to ₹50,000.
4. Is ad spend included in the agency fee?
Usually not. Ad spend goes directly to Google and the management fee goes to the agency. Always confirm which number a quote refers to, because quoting one as if it were the other is the most common source of confusion in Google Ads proposals.
5. Why is my Google Ads CPC so high?
The most common causes are broad match keywords without a negative list, a low Quality Score caused by a weak landing page, and bidding only on highly competitive head terms. Quality Score in particular means two advertisers bidding the same amount on the same keyword can pay very different prices.
6. Is Google Ads cheaper in India than other countries?
Yes, substantially. The global all-industry average search CPC in 2026 is around $5.42, which is roughly ₹480. Indian CPCs commonly run 70% to 80% below global averages for comparable intent.
7. Which Google Ads campaign type is cheapest in India?
Shopping campaigns typically deliver the lowest cost per click for ecommerce, often ₹5 to ₹20, because you compete on product relevance and feed quality rather than keyword bids alone. Display and YouTube have low CPMs but much lower purchase intent.
8. How long before Google Ads produces results?
Clicks begin immediately. Reliable optimisation data usually takes four to six weeks, and meaningful cost reduction follows once you have enough conversion data to cut what is not working.
